Slice of Life — A day off

Drew and I had a day off today. It is strange to enjoy a day away from your child, but I know that we need this, our marriage needs it, and that our family will be stronger for it. And we are so lucky to have my parents nearby and willing to watch Sam for a day and night.
We had a quiet day: shopping, walking around Freeport in the sunshine, eating ice cream, and then an amazing dinner at a French bistro.
But honestly, I am ready to see my little dude’s face in the morning. That’s the thing about a day off: it can’t end soon enough.

  1. What a sweet post! I’m glad you had a day together, even if missing the little guy was a part of it. It’s important for mommy and daddy to have time together too. 🙂

  2. It’s good to have that breather once in awhile, but in all honesty, I don’t think of it as a day off unless I get to be away from my whole family – husband included! It’s always fun to return home…

  3. I had most of yesterday off. Haircut in Lancaster in the morning and then Marc and I went out to look for cars in the afternoon. In the evening we went dinner at Harvest, then to to a Hershey Bears game, and to the Iberian Lounge at the Hotel Hershey to listen to some jazz. (I mention all of the places b/c I know you used to live here). Great day. However, like you, I missed Isabelle so much. I couldn’t wait to hug and kiss her this morning. It’s so good to have couple time, but being away for so long from my l.o. makes my heart ache.
